The BNurs (Hons) Mental Health Nursing with Foundation Year at the University of Wolverhampton is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality mental health nursing care. The course includes a foundation year, designed to develop academic skills and understanding of health, preparing students to study at degree level. Course Content: This course integrates physical and mental health, providing a holistic approach to care. It covers aspects such as anatomy and physiology, psychology, sociology, nursing practice, and biological aspects of health and disease. Practical work placements form a significant part of the course, allowing students to gain first-hand experience in a variety of settings such as mental health inpatient wards, community mental health teams, and specialist services. Key Modules: The course includes modules such as Fundamental Aspects of Care, Assessment and Interventions in Mental health Nursing, Law Ethics and Safeguarding in Mental Health Nursing, and Lifespan Development and Applied Psychology. Accreditations: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a mental health nurse. Future Careers: This course prepares students for a career in mental health nursing.
