BSc (Hons) Psychology with Criminology

The BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Criminology at London South Bank University (LSBU) is a full-time, three-year undergraduate degree that offers students the opportunity to focus on psychology whilst developing an understanding of criminal behaviour. The course combines a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour with a detailed exploration of the complex motivations behind criminal activity. Course Content: This course covers a diverse range of subjects, which includes the study of personality, social, developmental, cognitive and biological psychology. Alongside, students will gain in-depth knowledge on crime, social order, social justice, social diversity and modern methods of criminal investigation. The integration of these two distinct yet complementary disciplines enables students to develop a broad understanding of human behaviour, whilst gaining an insight into the complex motivations behind criminal activity. Key Modules: Key modules include 'Criminal Minds', 'Psychology in the Real World', 'Law, Justice & Society', 'Personality and Social Psychology', and 'Biological and Cognitive Psychology'. The final year culminates in a double-weighted Psychology Project and 'Employability and Career Development'.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), offering Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) which is the first necessary step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist. Future Careers: Successful completion of the course prepares students for a wide range of careers in sectors such as social services, the prison service, police and probation services, human resources, health and social care, and marketing and market research.
