The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences (Applied) is a four-year course at London South Bank University. It offers students solid grounding in modern bio-sciences, incorporating learning around medical advances and how they’re used to treat and prevent disease. The course promises to equip students with knowledge needed for a wide range of careers in biomedical science and beyond.Course Content: The course focuses on cellular and molecular biology, physiology, nutritious health, metabolism, and biochemistry in the first year. In the second, students deepen their understanding with biochemical analysis, pathology, immunology, and microbiology. Final year students work on their own research project on a topic of their choice.Key Modules: Core modules offered in the course include Medical Biochemistry, Pathology for Biomedical Sciences, Nutritional Health and Metabolism, Clinical Immunology, Research Methods, Human Physiology, and Cellular and Molecular Biology.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and the Royal Society of Biology. This will give students eligibility to apply for registration as a biomedical scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).Future Careers: A degree in biomedical sciences prepares graduates for a wide range of careers both within and outside lab environments. Examples include hospital laboratories, pharmaceutical industries, health organisations, forensics, and sales.
