The Social Work BA (Hons) at the University of Greenwich is a three-year full-time programme that enables students to gain the necessary knowledge and skills required to practice as a confident and competent social worker in a variety of settings, including assessment, risk management, and therapeutic, problem-solving, critical and analytical skills. The course provides an opportunity for students to understand and apply the values, knowledge, methods and skills of social work through university and practice learning opportunities.Course Content: The course features a mixture of learning approaches that encompasses lectures, tutorials, group work, role plays, skills demonstration and development, workshops, independent study, reading, and the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It introduces students with an insight into the complexity of social work with an emphasis on human growth and development, sociology, social policy, psychology and law interrelated with areas of social work.Key Modules: The course is divided into three levels and each level comprises of core modules. The level 4 includes three core modules namely, Introduction to British Society for Social Workers, Skills for Practice and Social Policy and Social Work. The level 5 includes one core module – Developing Social Work Practice and the level 6 includes two core modules – Consolidating Social Work Practice and Social Work with Adults or Children & Families.Accreditations: The Social Work BA (Hons) is recognised and regulated by the Social Work England, a professional accreditation body in England.Future Careers: Upon completing the course, students can pursue career opportunities in local authorities, healthcare trusts, housing organizations, voluntary, private agencies, schools, prisons, and probation services, and charities.
