The BA (Hons) Fine Art course offered by Northumbria University is an immersive programme designed to cultivate the skills and knowledge needed to make a significant impact and engage with the professional art world. The course offers an enlightening environment equipped with the latest studios and equipment, where practicing and thinking about art benefits from robust research expertise and encompasses a global perspective.Course Content: This course allows students to explore traditional disciplines, while also structured around contemporary and future-forward practices. The students will have the opportunity to build technical skills in painting, printmaking, sculpture and drawing whilst also exploring contemporary practices in relation to moving image, photography, mixed media installation and site-based practice. The course also includes a module on professional practice which can involve exhibiting, curating, and/or arts-based community engagement that connect them to the real-world art scene.Key Modules: Some key modules include Professional Artist Studio Practice, Contemporary Art Practice: Narrative & Discourse, Visual and Material Cultures, Professional Contextual Development, and Professional Practice: Showcase Project.Future Careers: Studying at Northumbria students will be supported by an academic team who have links to regional, national, and international art organisations, gallery directors, curators and partners.
