BA (Hons) Creative Writing & Journalism

The Creative Writing and Journalism course at the University of Chester provides an excellent balance of practice and theory, enhancing student’s ability to write creatively while also enabling them to work in a journalistic setting. It cultivates all areas of writing ranging from literary, journalistic, scriptwriting to technical skills.Course Content: This course presents a unique intersection of creative writing and journalism, offering the creative development and refinement while also nurturing practical journalism skills. It incorporates a variety of writing and analytical tasks designed to enhance the skills of the student in both creative writing and journalism.Key Modules: The main modules of this course include the Art of Writing, Introduction to Journalism, Writing Short, Features and Freelancing, Writing the Novel, Scriptwriting, and The Magazine.Accreditations: This course is designed in alignment with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and the Professional Publishers Association (PPA). Students can gain a Diploma in Journalism from NCTJ by taking additional exams.Future Careers: This course equips students with skills suitable for a wide range of careers in communications, public relations, the media, journalism or writing.
