The Secondary Teaching Studies Physics (BSc Hons) course at the University of Hull is designed to equip future educators with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to effectively teach Physics at the secondary level. The program combines solid physics foundation with teaching principles and practicum that aims to prepare confident, competent, and reflective teachers.Course Content: During the first two years, students will gain a deep understanding of physics, studying core modules such as electromagnetism and quantum mechanics. In the final year, attention is shifted to pedagogy with a focus on teaching and learning in the secondary school setting. Learners will complete a teaching practice placement, where they can apply their knowledge in a real classroom setting.Key Modules: Some of the main modules in the course include: Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, School Placement, Classroom Theory and Practice and Fundamental Teaching Skills.Accreditations: At the end of the program, successful students will achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) which is accredited by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA). Future Careers: Graduates of this course will gain the skills and qualification necessary to teach secondary Physics. They could pursue a career as a secondary school teacher, or explore roles in science communication, educational research or even science policy. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
