MSc Midwifery

The Midwifery MSc at the University of Hull is a two-year, full-time course designed for registered nurses who wish to develop a greater level of skill, effectiveness, and leadership in the field of Midwifery. The course offers a blend of theoretical and practical teaching which allows students to gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become competent and confident midwives.Course Content: The course is divided into five stages where the first stage is about normal pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period, the second focusses on complexities that can arise in maternity care, the third stage helps in developing decision-making skills aiding autonomous practice, the fourth stage is about leadership and quality improvements, and the final stage includes a research project.Key Modules: Some of the main modules include Midwifery Practice 1 & 2, Public Health, Evidence for Effective Midwifery Practice, Contemporary Issues in Midwifery, Leadership for Quality Improvement, and Midwifery Project.Accreditations: On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to register as qualified midwives with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).Future Careers: This course opens up a wide range of career opportunities in various healthcare settings.
