MA Creative Writing

The Creative Writing and English Literature MA offered by the University of Hull is a meticulously developed course that builds upon students' literary abilities while encouraging free-thinking and imaginative writing skills. Enhancing their knowledge in classics, contemporary and genre fiction, students will also get the opportunity to create their own works of literature in diverse formats. Course Content: This course provides a chance to explore creative writing and English literature in a highly supportive, dynamic environment. Through this course, students will build and apply the tools necessary to manipulate language and produce compelling works in a variety of formats, including poetry, short stories, novels, and plays. The course content includes in-depth studies of the literary classics, contemporary and genre fiction, as well as the opportunity to produce original pieces of writing.Key Modules: The Key Modules of this course are Creative practice, which focuses on developing and refining creative writing skills; Reading the contemporary, an exploration of contemporary texts in order to understand current literature themes and trends; and Research training, which equips students to conduct literary research. Additionally, a final dissertation allows students to create an extended piece of creative writing from a proposal of their own design.Future Careers: The skills students acquire in this course can lead them to careers in areas like publishing, copywriting, teaching, or further academic research.
