BSc Theoretical Physics

The Theoretical Physics BSc (Hons) and MPhys programs at the University of Hull are designed to deeply explore the fascinating and complex world of physics. Students will examine the forces that control the universe, and try to unveil the laws governing reality. Both traditional and modern topics in physics are studied, with a focus on the mathematical and computational methodology used to interpret them.Course Content: The course integrates core theoretical physics and mathematical methods modules, with options to specialize in different areas like quantum mechanics or particle physics. The BSc program is a 3-year full-time course, but a placement year option is also available. The MPhys program expands the BSc with an additional 4th year and involves a major independent research project.Key Modules: Key modules include Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Particle Physics, Astrophysics, Advanced Quantum Mechanics, Advanced Mathematical Methods in Physics, and Quantum Field Theory.
