BSc Secondary Teaching Studies (Physics)

The Secondary Teaching Studies: Physics BSc (Hons) program offered by the University of Hull is a dynamic course that enables students to teach physics at the secondary school level. This course not only equips students with the essential knowledge of physics but also with teaching strategies and methodologies to prepare them for a teaching career. Course Content: The course is designed as a four-year program. In the first two years, students acquire the basics of physics, complemented by other science subjects, mathematics, and education. In the third year, students will enhance their understanding of physics and teaching. The final year is a mixture of physics and professional education subjects, including a school experience placement. Students also complete a research project in collaboration with academic staff, where they can explore an area of physics or education that interests them.Key Modules: Some of the core modules include Mechanics, Electromagnetism and Modern Physics, Quantum Physics, Thermal and Statistical Physics, Physics Education, Developing Subject Knowledge for Teaching and Learning in Science, and Professional Practice in Education. Accreditations: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), which enables them to teach in any state-maintained school in England and Wales.Future Careers: Graduates are well-suited to pursue a career in secondary physics teaching or in other educational roles.
