The Acting BA (Hons) course at the University of Hull is designed to provide a strong foundation in performance practice, as well as develop critical and creative skills which are valued in a variety of professional contexts. The course incorporates the fundamentals of acting, voice, movement, and many other crucial skills to a successful career in acting. It offers a wide range of modules that help to enhance the natural talent of the students, in addition to providing them opportunities to showcase their skills through public performances.Course Content: The course includes modules that cover everything from Movement and Voice, to Acting and Performance Skills. Students will engage in various forms of performance from Shakespeare and the Modernist Avant-Garde to Commedia dell'Arte and new writing. The course also encourages students to explore the origins of drama, and its development through history, considering key political, social and technological changes.Key Modules: Some of the key modules that students can expect to study include Introduction to Devising, The Natyashastra, Introduction to Realism, Modernist Avant-Garde, Dance Theatre, and Physical Theatre. In their third year, students also undertake a major performance project or a dissertation.Future Careers: Upon successful completion of the Acting BA (Hons), graduates can pursue career paths in acting for stage and screen, voice-over work, radio presenting, teaching, and many other areas of the creative industries.
