The MSc Speech and Language Therapy (Pre-registration) course at Manchester Metropolitan University is a two-year accelerated course. It is aimed at graduates from any discipline who wish to train as a Speech and Language Therapist. This postgraduate degree provides all the necessary training and education to become a fully qualified Speech and Language Therapist.Course Content: The course includes core areas of speech and language therapy such as communication and swallowing. The students will also study the clinically related areas of psychology, linguistics, and anatomy & physiology during the course. There is a significant clinical placement component throughout the two years covering different client groups and settings. Key Modules: Key modules include Adult Acquired Disorders; Child Language; Child Speech and Fluency; Clinical Education; Cognitive Communication and Swallowing; Complex Cases: critical decision making, reflection on and in practice; Evidence-based practice and service improvement project; Interprofessional Education 1 & 2; Linguistics; Psychology and Anatomy, and Physiology. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).Future Careers: The course prepares the students for a career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
