MA Illustration

The MA Illustration course offered by Manchester Metropolitan University is a specialist programme designed to develop your existing skills and personal creative voice. It encourages you to challenge and innovate image creation techniques, questioning the context and nature of illustration practice while embracing an experimental approach.Course Content: This course equips students with a framework for advanced study and development within the field of contemporary illustration. Its studio-based learning falls under four main components – Personal Development and Course Workshops, which take place during the first semester, and Resolved Work and Resolution and Exhibition, which take place in the second semester. Students also get to partake in public exhibitions of their work. Key Modules: Students will undertake subject specific units in which they examine the context of contemporary illustration, explore and negotiate their own personal identities as illustrators, and through workshops, develop their knowledge and skills in drawing, printmaking, narrative, image and text relationships, concept development, and digital techniques.Future Careers: This course is intended to appeal to those pursuing a career as an illustrator, in a range of sectors such as children's books, editorial and newspaper illustration, comic-books, graphic novels and zines, character and game development, animation and film visuals, product packaging, and branding and advertising.For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
