The MA History course at Manchester Metropolitan University is designed to develop a critical understanding of the past, knowledge of historiographical controversies, and the skills required for an independent research in history. The course prepares students to partake in debates and interpretations within their field by teaching a solid foundation in thematic and theoretical aspects of history.Course Content: The MA History course allows students to design their own course content around their personal research interests. The taught units mix broad thematic units with focused study and a research dissertation. The course proposes a number of themes throughout British, European, and Global history, from Middle Ages to today's world.Key Modules: Some of the key modules covered in this course include: Researching War in the Twentieth Century, Theory and Practice of History, Public Histories, and Topics and Methods in History. There is also a History M.A. Project module that is devoted to independent research.Future Careers: Graduates of the MA History course can pursue careers in a variety of fields.
