The Working with Children, Young People & Families BA at Leeds Beckett University is a course designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to support children and young people effectively, focusing on the issues and challenges faced by modern families. The course focuses on promoting social justice and improving life chances for children and young people, through exploring the issues they face in their lives.Course Content: The course covers interdisciplinary perspectives, integrating fields such as Sociology, Psychology, Human Rights, Health and Social Care. Students will learn about Children's Rights, Youth Justice, Parenting, Domestic Abuse, Drugs and Alcohol, Homelessness, and more. The course also provides an opportunity for students to work in a professional environment through 120 days of professional practice.Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course include Practice Skills for Working with Children, Young People and Families, Children's Rights and Participation, Social & Emotional Development and Creativities and Technologies in Practice. The final stage concentrates on advanced modules including Parenting: Challenges & Issues, Young People, Substance Use & Society, and Dissertation.Future Careers: Upon completion of the course, students can gain employment in a wide range of sectors. Careers in charities and voluntary organisations, community-based projects, youth work, social care or roles within the education sector may be pursued.
