BA (Hons.) Theatre And Performance

The Theatre Performance BA course at Leeds Beckett University provides a solid foundation in contemporary theatre performance with the opportunity to specialise in areas such as writing, directing, and live art. Students will be making and presenting performances in various setting, as well as understanding the context and theory of theatre in contemporary society. Course Content: This course encourages creativity through a large range of modules and includes much studio-based work. It is underpinned by studies in theatre histories and contexts giving an in-depth understanding of the development of theatre. Key Modules: This include Contemporary Performance Practice, Performance Making, Performing Texts, Site-Specific Performance, Visual Cultures, Devising and Directing, Cultural Policy and Industry, and a final-year Independent Project.Future Careers: Graduates can pursue career opportunities in performance creation for theatre and other contexts, directing, scriptwriting, drama and arts facilitation in communities, teaching, and academic research. Some choose to start their own companies or work as freelance artist-educators.
