BA (Hons.) Product Design

The BA (Hons) Product Design course at Leeds Beckett University is a physically engaging course which rewards creativity and innovation. It focuses on the design and development of physical products to meet the needs of real people. The course emphasizes a holistic design process using state-of-art 3D digital modelling/physical prototyping and ethical design practice.Course Content: The course offers progressive, hands-on learning to develop key design skills, underpinned by a critical awareness of design culture, history, and contemporary practice. The curriculum also covers a wide range of topics including Illustration, 3D Modelling, and Material Technologies. Interdisciplinary collaboration is strongly encouraged as students learn about the commercial, social, environmental and cultural contexts of product design.Key Modules: Some of the core modules include Contextual Studies, Design for Health & Well-being, Design Intervention, Design Process 1, Design Process 2, Illustration, 3D Modelling, Material Technologies, and Professional Practice.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and, when combined with relevant work experience, allows students to gain Chartered Technological Product Designer (CTPD) status.Future Careers: Graduates of this course can progress into a wide range of careers such as product designer, furniture designer, 3D designer, or CAD specialist.
