The MSc in Psychology at Bangor University is a postgraduate program designed for students interested in pursuing advanced study in psychology. The course embodies the twin values of breadth and depth – breadth in providing a comprehensive state-of-the-art and research-driven introduction to fundamental areas of empirical and theoretical psychology, and depth in offering students the opportunity to delve deeply into specialised topics and themes. Course Content: The program is divided into two parts. Part one comprises a comprehensive curriculum of taught modules that provide a deep understanding of core areas of psychology. Part two involves conducting empirical research under the guidance of a member of the School of Psychology with provision for co-supervision from another academic member of staff.Key Modules: The key modules in part one include Introduction to Cognitive and Neuropsychology, Current Issues in Social and Applied Psychology, Psychopathology Current Research and Practice, and Current Issues in Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology. In part two, students will undertake an empirical project.Accreditations: The MSc Psychology course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, provided a minimum standard of qualification of second class honours is also obtained. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.Future Careers: The course provides students with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in psychology.
