The Law LLM at Bangor University is a postgraduate course that offers a wide range of opportunities for students to pursue their own research interests under the guidance of specialist staff. This program deepens and broadens the knowledge of law as an academic subject by offering a systematic understanding of legal processes, methods, and concepts; of the social and political context in which legal processes take place; and of appropriate theoretical conceptions of law.Course Content: This course utilizes an in-depth, critical, and contextual approach where students will benefit from the close attention and specialist knowledge of their supervisor. It allows students to follow a structured program of study over one year (full-time) or two years (part-time).Key Modules: The course offers two core modules, namely, Legal Research Methods and Postgraduate Legal Skills, both of which are central to the LLM program. Students are also able to choose three elective modules from the wide variety on offer, followed by a 20,000-word dissertation on any legal topic.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Bar Standards Board. This gives a ‘Free Standing’ Masters exemption, which enables students to study towards a Masters degree whilst also working towards their academic requirements for eligibility as a solicitor or barrister.Future Careers: Graduates have gone on to successful careers in the legal professions, academia, the media, commerce, industry, and government.
