MSc Translating

The Postgraduate course in Translating at Heriot-Watt University is tailored for students who have high levels of competence in two or more languages and are seeking a professional career in Translation. The program allows students to acquire real-world translation skills, as well as an introduction to the use of translation technology. It is available in full-time and part-time flexible modes of study.Course Content: The course provides a balance between translation skills and research in translation studies. In Semester 1, students take Translation & Interpreting Studies and two Translation Practice modules (one per language). In Semester 2, students take Translation Technologies and three more Translation Practice modules. The MA project or dissertation will be undertaken over the Summer.Key Modules: The program consists of compulsory and optional modules such as Translation & Interpreting Studies, Translation Practice, Translation Technologies, and MA Project or Dissertation in Translation.
