MEng Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering (MEng) undergraduate program at Heriot-Watt University is a five-year full-time course that equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the civil engineering profession. By incorporating practical learning and a strong focus on design, the course prepares students for a broad range of challenges faced in civil engineering industry globally.Course Content: The MEng program includes traditional civil engineering subjects such as structures, geotechnics, materials, fluids, surveying and construction management. On top of these, the course provides modules on integrated urban infrastructure and railway engineering. It also includes the option to spend a year studying abroad or in a work placement.Key Modules: Some of the outstanding modules include Mechanics of Solids, Mathematics for Engineers and Scientists, Civil Engineering Design and Construction, Structural Design and Analysis, Hydraulics and Hydrology and Geotechnical Engineering.Accreditations: The MEng program in Civil Engineering is accredited as fully satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).Future Careers: Graduates of this course can expect to work in areas such as civil and structural design engineering, geotechnical engineering, water engineering, and infrastructure project administration.
