The Sport, Physical Activity, and Health BSc (Hons) course with an optional placement year at Ulster University is a full-time degree programme designed to prepare students for careers in sport, physical activity, and health-related industries. This course provides the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver, develop, and promote sustainable physical activity and health enhancement programmes. Course Content: Over the course of study, students will delve deep into the scientific, behavioral, and managerial skills related to sport, exercise, physical activity, and health. This includes the opportunity for students to undertake a yearlong placement in the sport, exercise, physical activity, or health sectors. Key Modules: The key modules include Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology, Physical Activity and Health Enhancement, Social Issues in Sport, Research in Sport, Principles of Sport and Exercise Biomechanics, Applied Sports Nutrition, and Exercise Prescription and Rehabilitation. The course also includes the optional module of an additional programme-specific placement year. Accreditations: The course is recognized and endorsed by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). Future Careers: Past students have found employment in a range of roles in the health, sports, and fitness sectors. This includes roles as health development officers, health consultants, sports development officers, coach development officers, exercise professionals, and more in various health trusts, sports governing bodies, councils, and independent gymnasiums.
