BA (Hons) English with Education

The "English with Education" course offered by Ulster University is a combined honours programme that allows students to study English in depth, while also gaining a broad understanding of educational contexts, theories and issues. Combining elements of literature, language, and education, this course opens up a variety of career possibilities for students and provides valuable teaching experience. Course Content: The course allows students to examine English in all its facets – literature, language and creative writing – while learning about educational contexts, theories and issues. It provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience with built-in classroom observation and a teaching placement in an educational setting. The course provides an engaging and diverse curriculum that combines the study of English with the exploration of an extensive range of educational issues. Key Modules: The program comprises of modules like Grammar and Meaning, English in Use, Spoken English, Language Curriculum Studies, Education Placement, Language and Literacy, Contemporary Children's Literature, Special Educational Needs, and Language and Identity. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) and recognized for the purposes of professional development in teaching. Future Careers: Graduates of the course work in a wide range of environments. Careers followed by graduates include primary teaching, secondary teaching (if a PGCE undertaken), work in the learning and skills sector (Further Education or other), educational administration and management.
