The full-time course lasts for one year and can be undertaken part-time. It is intended for biomedical science workers, but is open to anyone with a background in life sciences. It provides an in-depth understanding of disease processes and diagnostic investigations, along with an appreciation of scientific endeavors.Course Content: The course provides a solid foundation in modern biomedical sciences including cell biology, molecular biology, immunology and histopathology. It also offers opportunities to improve skills in research design and implementation, data handling, and evidence-based practice. On top of theoretical learning, practical lab sessions and a research project are included to give hands-on experience. Key Modules: The key modules include Cellular Pathology and Infection, Molecular Pathology, Clinical Chemistry, Medical Immunology, and Analysis of Scientific Data. There's also a Research Project that you can tailor according to your career interests.Accreditations: The course is recognised by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and it will provide you with the academic components you need for the role of a Biomedical Scientist. However, please note that completion of the course does not guarantee HCPC registration, it merely provides eligibility. Future Careers: The course prepares you for a rewarding career in biomedical science, forensic science, the pharmaceutical industry, clinical chemistry, cytopathology or immunology. It can also lead to academic jobs like lecturing and research. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
