The Product Design BSc (Hons) degree at De Montfort University (DMU) is a course that combines the theory and practice of product design with the study of aesthetics, technology, marketing, and manufacturing. Students will develop a broad understanding of the subject, professional skills and the ability to apply knowledge and skills in new or complex environments.Course Content: The course covers areas such as idea generation, computer-aided design (CAD), manufacturing, ethics, sustainability, and the business of design. Using CAD and Rapid Prototyping (RP), students learn how to turn a design concept into a prototype. The course also allows students to participate in DMU Global events which includes international study trips to design centres and high-profile companies around the world.
