BA (Hons) Forensic Science

The BSc (Hons) Forensic Science course at De Montfort University (DMU) encompasses a wide-range of disciplines, including chemistry, biology and criminalistics to provide a comprehensive education in the theory and practice of forensic science. The course equips students with the skills needed to collect, analyse and report on a range of evidence obtained from crime scenes, in addition to conducting thorough investigative work.Course Content: This course provides a foundation in the basic principles and techniques of forensic science in combination with a thorough grounding in all the major branches of science. Students will study a range of modules with the aim of providing them with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to work in a forensic science laboratory.Key Modules: Core modules include: Forensic Practice and Procedure, Crime Scene Science, Forensic Biology and Genetics, Forensic Chemistry, Analytical Science and Toxicology, and Legal and Ethical Issues in Forensic Science.Accreditations: This course is accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences (CSFS).Future Careers: This course can lead to careers in forensic science laboratories, police forces, and investigative roles within the public sector.
