BA (Hons) Fine Art

The Fine Art BA Degree at De Montfort University (DMU) is a creative and critical program that encourages students to explore the exciting possibilities of contemporary art practice. The course has a flexible structure that allows a focus on creating 2D, 3D or 4D art, exposing students to a variety of disciplines and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.Course Content: This course encourages students to explore the physical, conceptual, and digital aspects of art and culture. Students can hone their skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, photography, video, sound, performance, and digital arts. Apart from studio-based work, students will also engage in critical studies where they will study art history and theory which will support their practice. Key Modules: Key modules include Personal Identity and Visual Language, Exploring Fine Art Media, Location, Publics and Contexts, Personal Research and Professional Practice, amongst others. Future Careers: This program opens pathways into a wide array of creative careers. Graduates can work as practicing artists or photographers, community artists or workers, gallery managers and curators, teachers, lecturers, and researchers, among other roles.
