BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice (Medway)

The Operating Department Practice Diploma program offered by Canterbury Christ Church University is an exciting and rewarding field of study. This course allows students to contribute to surgical procedures, emergencies, and all other aspects of healthcare, aiming to equip them with the necessary patient-centered skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care in a variety of clinical settings.Course Content: This course focuses on different aspects ranging from admission till discharge of a patient. Modules are undertaken concurrently and designed to be interdependent, reflecting both current health policy and practice. This course aims to ensure students can respond to the changing nature of healthcare and deliver high standards of care.Key Modules: The key modules in the course include Professional Values and Role of the Practitioner, Anatomy and Physiology in Context, Safe Care and Management of the Surgical Patient, Perioperative Care of the Specialist Surgical Patient, and Leadership and Management in Health, amongst others.Accreditations: Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be awarded a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE). Graduates may also apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner.Future Careers: This course prepares students primarily for employment in a wide range of roles within operating departments in both the NHS and independent healthcare sectors.
