BSc Hons. Nursing (Learning Disabilities)

The University of Hertfordshire offers a practice-led course in Learning Disability Nursing. This undergraduate course has been designed to provide students with in-depth understanding of the health and social care needs of people with learning disabilities.Course Content: The BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing includes a range of both theoretical and practical modules. These modules are designed to enhance students' understanding of the physical health, mental health, and wellbeing needs of individuals with learning disabilities. They also encourage students to consider the social policies and organizational systems within which health and social care are delivered. Students will be supported to develop their clinical skills across different placements and will be able to apply what they've learned in a live nursing practice setting.Key Modules: The course encompasses various modules such as Introduction to Professional Practice, Understanding Public Health, Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, and Life Through the Lifespan. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which enables graduates to register and work as a Learning Disability Nurse. Future Careers: After completing this course, students can pursue a range of careers in healthcare. These can involve working in a variety of settings, including community residential homes, forensic services, schools, or even their own homes.
