BSc Hons. Midwifery (Pre-registration)

The BSc (Hons) Midwifery (Pre-Registration) is an undergraduate course offered by the University of Hertfordshire, designed for students who want to join the highly rewarding profession of midwifery. The three-year, full-time course provides students with both the theoretical knowledge and the practical and clinical skills required to work as a midwife.Course Content: This course covers all aspects of midwifery, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. Students learn through a mix of classroom teaching, simulation activities, online learning, and practical placements.Key Modules: Over the course, students will cover key subjects such as Biological Science for Midwifery, Inquiry, and Research in Midwifery, Becoming a Midwife and Professional Midwifery Practice. The course also covers modules on Psychosocial Aspects of Childbirth, and Complex Cases in Midwifery.Accreditations: This course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), enabling students to register with the NMC as a qualifed midwife upon successful completion of the programme.Future Careers: Upon graduation, students can pursue careers as independent professional midwives in hospitals, clinics, health centres, and homes.
