The BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies is an undergraduate course offered by the University of Hertfordshire. This programme equips students with both the theoretical knowledge and the practical experience needed in the field of aerospace engineering. It provides a unique combination of aerospace engineering and pilot studies, including extensive time spent in flight simulators as well as in real aircraft. Course Content: This Aerospace Engineering course with a focus on Pilot Studies lasts three years (or four with a sandwich year). It covers both practical and theoretical aspects of aerospace engineering and pilot training. Topics include Flight Mechanics, Propulsion Systems, Aerodynamics, Structural Analysis, Materials and Manufacturing among others.Key Modules: The course contains several core modules such as Flight Mechanics, Propulsion Systems, Aircraft Structures and Materials, along with opportunities to gain real pilot experience in a flight simulator and in an aircraft. There are also optional modules such as Advanced Propulsion, Advanced Flight Dynamics and Simulation. Accreditations: The course is accredited by both the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).Future Careers: Graduates of the BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies have gone on to enter a range of careers. These include roles in aerospace and defence companies, airlines, and consultancies, as well as work in aircraft testing, aircraft and component design, and research and development.
