The Master of Arts (MA) in Ceramics at Staffordshire University is designed for individuals with a passion for pottery and love of clay who wish to innovate, initiative, and push boundaries with their creative works. This program is designed for artists, designers, and makers with an interest in a particular ceramic process or a desire to study a specific field indepth. Utilizing the rich history of ceramics in North Staffordshire, as well a range of techniques, students will develop their craft in a studio atmosphere, while also enhancing their professional skills, enriching their understanding of contemporary contexts and practices in ceramics.Course Content: Through the structure of the course, students will pursue their personal ceramic interests and ideas, develop professional design and production skills, and critically engage with contemporary debates around the cultural, theoretical and technological contexts of ceramic design and craft. The course includes a mix of taught hours, independent study, individual tutorials, group tutorials, workshops, seminars, lectures, practical work, and dissertation.Key Modules: Advanced Ceramics Studio Practice: A module focusing on the practical completion of individually negotiated ceramics projects. Professional Practice in the Creative Arts: This module includes workrelated learning. Ceramics Contexts: Students explore and contest histories, theories, issues and debates in ceramics and related fields.
