
Course Overview
The EngD Structural Metals for Gas Turbine Applications at Swansea University is a postgraduate programme designed for postgraduate students passionate about driving digital innovation. Based in Swansea, Wales, this programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, with a 4-year full-time structure. Our EngD projects, run by our Materials and Manufacturing Academy (M2A), are defined by our long standing industrial sponsors and address operational requirements identified by these companies. Projects are focused on our established areas of functional coatings, computer modelling and advanced materials and manufacturing. Research into advanced, structural materials is undertaken in conjunction with the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Materials based at Swansea. A minimum ielts score of 6.5 is required for admission. Graduates from this programme benefit from strong career prospects, with a median graduate salary of £29,500 within three years, a 90% continuation rate, and 77% of graduates in employment or further study.
