BSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence)

The BSc in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sheffield is designed to provide students with a strong understanding of core computer science principles, coupled with a specialized focus on artificial intelligence. The course extends over three years and explores the theory and methods used in the design of intelligent systems. Course Content: The course offers a unique blend of learning in computer science and artificial intelligence, starting from the introduction to Java and the theory of computation, gradually transitioning towards cognitive and biological models of intelligence, machine learning, intelligent robotics, game AI, and decision making in complex environments. The student will conduct an individual project as part of the capstone experience.Key Modules: The key modules consist of Algorithm 1 and 2, Advanced Java, Computer Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms, Introduction to AI, Software Engineering, Advanced AI topics like neural and embodied robotics and advanced machine learning.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the British Computer Society, the Chartered Institute for IT for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional.Future Careers: Graduates may pursue careers in diverse areas such as computer gaming industry, the finance industry, and health informatics.
