The BSc in Ecology at the University of York is a comprehensive course that aims to develop your understanding of the natural world. This course combines practical data collection with theoretical analysis to provide a unique and integrated perspective of ecology. Course Content: This course combines the principles of ecology with a detailed examination of their applications. In first year, students engage in core and elective modules where they gain statistical and lab skills, and understand cell and molecular biology among other areas. The second and third years of study focus on environmental change, recovery, planning and management, conservation biology, and also incorporate more advanced projects and field work.Key Modules: Noteworthy modules throughout this course include Statistics and Lab Skills, Cell and Molecular Biology, Ecosystem Ecology, Conservation Biology, Animal, Plant and Microbial Biodiversity, Evolution and Behaviour, and Advanced Projects in Ecology.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Future Careers: Graduates of BSc Ecology can go on to work in diverse roles such as ecological consultants, nature conservation officers, environmental education officers, research and field scientists, and more.
