The Global Urbanism MAsc at UCL explores the challenges posed by rapidly changing cities. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining lectures, workshops, studio work, and field trips to come up with innovative solutions for urban challenges. The course focuses on acquiring skills and knowledge required to understand city design and development from a global perspective.Course Content: The curriculum covers different aspects of global urbanism including patterns, processes, and impacts of urbanisation. Students will study concepts such as global networks, infrastructure, urban policy, and migration. Apart from theoretical knowledge, the curriculum also includes hands-on studio work.Key Modules: The course includes modules like Theorising Global Urbanism and Global Urbanism Studio, and option modules to be chosen from a selection including Urban Development and Politics in Asia, Political Economy of Urbanisation, and City Making: The Politics of Global Property Development.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) when combined with the MSc Urban Planning.Future Careers: Graduates of the programme have a wide range of career possibilities. They are prepared to work in a variety of sectors like urban planning, policy making, infrastructure development, and real estate.
