BA History and International Relations

The History and International Relations BA at Brunel University London is a joint degree course providing an opportunity for students to explore in-depth the relationship between historical precedents and contemporary global politics. This unique intertwining of history and international relations provides a strong foundation for students to understand subjects ranging from the history of empires to international law and organizations. Course Content: The first year of this course forms a foundation for the students, wherein they are introduced to the histories and ideas of political thought, international relations and, modern world history. In the second year, students delve deeper into the study of international relations, history of political thought and other globally relevant topics, with options to choose from a range of modules to customize their studies. The third year allows students to focus on research and offers optional modules exploring topics like war and diplomacy, the Middle East, and others. Key Modules: Modules include Introduction to Modern World History, Research Methods for Historians, Nations and Empires, Democracy and Dictatorship in Europe, The History of Political Thought, and, War, Diplomacy and Statecraft among others.Future Careers: This course is a good foundation for careers in several sectors including politics, law, government, NGOs, the media, business, finance or education.
