BSc Hons. Business Economics

The Business Economics BSc (Hons) at Kingston University is a full-time course that provides students with an understanding of the theoretical, realistic, and quantitative aspects of economics, particularly as they apply to business settings. This course is distinctive in its ability to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply economic principles, concepts, and methodologies to business and management issues. Students are prepared to work in a variety of industries, including banking, the insurance sector, enterprises, and government institutions.Course Content: During the course, students will be introduced to key economic concepts and theories. In addition, students will develop practical skills including those needed to grasp, analyse and interpret short-term and long-term trends in economics, making practical business and policy decisions and working in teams. Methods and techniques for qualitative and quantitative data analysis will also be taught in order to be able to create comprehensive reports.Key Modules: The core modules for this course include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics for Economics and Business, Statistics for Economics and Business, and Economics of Industry. Optional modules for students to choose from include International Economics, Economic History, Public and Welfare Economics, and Political Economy.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Association of Business Executives (ABE) and gives exemptions from their examinations.Future Careers: Graduates from the Business Economics BSc (Hons) have often found work in banking, insurance, accountancy, and management consultancy. Many have also become economists for the government, banks or taken roles such as stockbrokers, data analysts budget analysts, financial consultants or sales executives.
