The MSc Clinical Animal Behaviour course from University of Lincoln is a unique program aimed at providing students with a deep understanding of animal behavior and welfare, together with some teaching of companion animal epidemiology, genetics and disease control.Course Content: The course includes a comprehensive study of ethology, the science of animal behaviour, and includes detailed investigation of behaviours, the contexts in which they occur, their function and motivation. Key topics include: companion animal epidemiology, genetics and disease control, clinical ethology, and research methods for clinical animal behaviourists.Key Modules: The core modules in this course include Animal Behaviour in Practice, Research Methods for Clinical Animal Behaviourists, Clinical Ethology, and Comparative Animal Behaviour Science. Optional modules include Applied Animal Training for Clinical Animal Behaviourists and Clinical Practice for Animal Behaviourists. Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB). By successfully completing their course, students will fulfil one of the necessary qualifications to join ASAB’s list of certified clinical animal behaviourists. Future Careers: Successful completion of the course may lead to employment within animal behaviour counselling, animal training, animal welfare, or working in animal rescue. Professions within these areas often require a high level of knowledge, understanding and skills in the principles of ethology, learning theory, behaviour disorders and their treatment, and basic veterinary science.
