BSc Hons Computer Science (Software Engineering)

The Computer Science Software Engineering BSc/MEng course at the University of Hull aims to develop students’ abilities to design, manage and refine software systems in a professional context. This program is designed to equip students with an in-depth understanding of the technical and theoretical aspects of computer science and software engineering.Course Content: This course provides a balanced mixture of theory and practice and covers a wide range of software development skills. It focuses on subjects like algorithms and complexity, cyber security, software design, software engineering, web development, and artificial intelligence. Students will also learn about the ethical and professional issues in the IT industry along with gaining practical experience through a software engineering project. Key Modules: Some of the key modules of this course include Programming 1, Computer Systems, Principles of Computer Science, and Digital and Cyber Literacy. Advanced modules are Artificial Intelligence, Database Design, and Implementation, Cyber Security Management, amongst others. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), the Chartered Institute for IT, for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional. The MEng programs meet in full the academic requirement for Chartered Engineer status.
